Located at 87 Hutt Rd, Thorndon, Hamills Wellington stocks a wide range of clothing, hunting, fishing and general outdoor equipment. Along with a large product range they offer an extensive list of services including rod and reel servicing and repairs, gunsmithing and load development.
The staff are enthusiastic and experienced fishermen and hunters themselves, who are more than happy to share their knowledge. The Hamills goal is to ensure that the customer gets the most out of their time spent on the water or up in the hills, and to make sure they have the right equipment to do so.
Fly fishing in spring, salt water in summer, hunting the roar, or opening weekend in Autumn, Hamills Wellington has all the gear, brands, tips and experience to ensure you the best chance of success out in the field.

Brad – Owner/Operator
Brad grew up shooting ducks and catching trout and has never lost his enthusiasm for it. Recently focusing most of his free time on stalking deer, chasing birds and jigging for Kingfish, Brad truly has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of fishing and hunting. Having been in the trade for a number of years now, his experience means he has a vast understanding of all the departments and products in his store and his expertise are second to none. Brad is very keen to share his knowledge and advice to see his customers get the most out of their outdoor endeavours.
Neil – Salesman
Neil is a saltwater guru with remarkable credentials. He is one of the best competitive long distance surf casters in the country and competes regularly throughout New Zealand in a variety of fishing competitions. He has a remarkable knowledge of reel mechanics and offers in-store professional reel servicing. Neil is regarded throughout the country as an exceptional fisherman and he is pleased to pass his insights and advice on to his customers.
Andrew - Salesman
Andrew has had a fly rod in one hand and a rifle in the other for as long as he can remember. Since a young age Andrew has spent every spare day walking up back country rivers and stalking up ridgelines. He is the stores fly fishing expert and has a very strong knowledge in the hunting and shooting department. Andrew is fishing the local rivers nearly every night during the season and is very keen to share his tips on which gear, flies and spots are working.
